NFL Divisions Geographically Aligned (2020 Edition)

Back in 2013, there was an effort to showcase NFL divisions aligned in a true geographical format. Out of the 8 divisions in the league, only one seemed to have matched up perfectly with all four teams (NFC North).

In this post, I present an updated list of all 32 teams in those same divisions, but with some changes. As it shows, most of the list is relatively the same as in 2013 with logo updates. The differences are as follows:

  1. Now that the Rams are in Los Angeles now, they are aligned with the previous AFC West division teams (which has moved to the NFC West).
  2. The Chargers are still in Southern California, however, since they too are in L.A., they are now in the same division as the Rams along with the Seahawks and the Niners.
  3. The Raiders are now in Las Vegas, but they stay in the AFC West (like it is in real-life) with the Cardinals, Chiefs and Broncos.

As mentioned previously, the reasoning of this list is to provide an idea of geographically aligned teams based on close proximity. Purists aside, in 2020, a pandemic-based layout could be possible for the future if the league were to consider this route, like MLB for example.
